Now, before we get started I'd like to slap a disclaimer on this thread and start off by saying I'm a new player myself. I am not sure if this topic has been addressed in the past but I'd like to throw my 2 cents on the matter out there as well because personally, I could see a very overwhelmingly positive reaction from the community with a catalog system being implemented. So this leads to the question "Why is there not a catalog and economy for users already?"
But let's take a second to discuss the pros and cons of a catalog system that also incorporates an economy with it. Note that I won't be going too deep into this list, as I just want to cover the basics of what we could be seeing rather than nitpick every detail.
So let's get started:
**Pros**
- Incentivizes users to learn new skills in exchange for money to swag their character out
-Allows users to pay people for services they normally wouldn't know how to do themselves, bringing the community closer at not only a business standpoint but a reliability one too.
-Teaches the values that hard work pays off, motivating people to pursue whatever endeavors they take a liking to -- plus in my personal experience there was never a better feeling than making something and uploading it to roblox, that people not only would search for but also end up purchasing.
-------------------
**Cons**
-Would remove the free catalog system we currently have, where people are free to wear whatever they want whenever they want
-Possibly encourages greed, resulting in the whole 1% vs the 99% thing
-Could potentially open up more gateways for negative behavior like scamming, compromising accounts, etc.
While I intentionally tried to keep my pros and cons short, sweet, and to the point, I know there are plenty of other Good and Bad outcomes to a future catalog and economy system. I would love to hear your opinions on this, as I do truly think that the good an economy brings outweighs the bad overall.
And hopefully one day we may see this get implemented!
